A little party
Because it seems I'm one of the few people left not blogging about Project Runway, I figure it's my turn. Really all I have to say is that it's time to celebrate-- Vincent got the auf! He shoulda been the first one off, given that ridiculous lampshade he forced his model to wear. And he definitely shoulda been the one kicked out instead of my beloved blonde Alison. But finally, he made something everyone agreed was ugly enough to merit a heartfelt double cheek kiss from Heidi. Now, let's get rid of Laura. I know everyone loves her but..... zzzzzzz. So long, Cruella.

I don't mean to be boorish, but what in the hell are you talking about? Do we live on the same planet?
hehe-- Project Runway!!! It's on Bravo. It's the only reality show since the conception of reality show with any real artistic merit. Basically, it had 16 really brilliant fashion designers competing for an opportunity to show a complete line. There is a fair ammount of interpersonal drama characteristic of reality shows-- which I find intensely boring-- but the work they create is incredible. I mean, I personally love clothes and harbored aspirations towards just such a career up until I was half-way through college-- but I know lots of people who don't give a flip about this show who still see it as a venue for actual artistic achievement-- and on TV, even! It's really very compelling-- and I was just THRILLED when the worst designer in the bunch finally got the boot. He shoulda been the first off but managed to make it to the top 6. Ridiculous. Bon Voyage, Vincent!
I don't love Laura, and, in fact, I think her garments are consistently boring. Silliman had it right when he said something about her designs befitting the 40-something professional. They're all highly wearable, and striking, to a degree, but this is a *design* competition. I think Laura is fantastic at making clothes for herself, but not clothes that make a statement. And I'm glad Vicent got auffed too. And I miss Alison. And I want Michael to win. Is it even a competition anymore?
Oh, I thought Jeffrey's yellow gown was unbelievable. Especially when the American model wore it-- it's like she understood it better. I mean it was new and sexy and it blew Michael's thing away, though I don't think that challenge showed off Michael's abilities particularly well in the first place. I say, it's between Jeffrey and Michael with Uli as the kicker. Though, I'm bored with Uli too.
